Samsung Galaxy Tab S Lollipop Update Rolls Out in USA, Canada and France

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S Android Lollipop update has officially released. The rolling out is initially made available for the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 SM-T800 (WiFi) in USA, Canada and France. As you may know that there are plenty of Galaxy Tab S model variants across the world; but those who are rocking the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 SM-T805 (LTE), Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM-T700 (WiFi), Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM-T705 (LTE) and some US carriers, the update might as well available for this devices very soon.

Since the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is released with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat, the update will directly bump up to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop which technically offers some major changes. But all the default apps will still remain intact like the Google apps suites such as the Google Play, Google plus, Google search and many more. Samsung apps were also stayed as such as the S Voice, Kids mode, S Planner, WatchON, Smart Stay, ChatON, S Suggest, Multi-Window, Group Play, All Share Play, Samsung Magazine, Professional pack, Multi-user mode, SideSync, and Gear/Gear Fit manager. There is also a lesser known features of Android 5.0.2 Lollipop called ‘ART’ an Android runtime which eventually replace the before Dalvik runtime. The called ART is the new runtime that executes application instructions which is astonishingly increases the device performance and Battery life.

Again, the Lollipop update is only available for Galaxy Tab S 10.5 SM-T800 which is a WiFi model of the tablet and powered by the Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5420 with the Exynos octa-core CPU version for some European countries. It is not yet for Galaxy Tab S 10.5 SM-T805 LTE model that comes either with a Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 on top of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset version for some US carriers.

This is rolled out in US and Canada which is an upgrade from previous Android 4.4.2 KitKat build version T800XXU1ANJ6 and T800XXU1ANFB. Whilst in France an update to the previous KitKat T800XXU1ANH1.

The other one is for the carrier branded Galaxy Tab 10.5 WiFi in Canada which technically got another build version and it stated such as follows:

The Lollipop update can be downloaded via Over-The-Air (OTA) which basically requires a strong WiFi connection. To manually check the update just head over into your device settings; from Settings>>About device>>Check software update. The update is rolled out in stages, and not everyone can receive an update at the same time. So if you did not see an update yet, you can check it again later on. You can also perform the software updating process by using Samsung Kies 3 suite which you can grab at Samsung support page. Just ensure that your tablet has not been rooted so you can get the update without any hiccups. Once you have a root installed, there is a chance that you can not get the update officially.
