Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 5.0.1 Update – August 2015 Roundup

The Samsung Galaxy S4 has received an Android 5.0.1 update in several countries across the world.  The update has one particular thing in common, it have been added with new Goggle’s Security patch to fix the (“Stagefright”) vulnerability.  The said recent security patch will address the  device vulnerabilities in pictures and videos messaging (MMS).  Several Galaxy S4 variants have been suddenly bumped up to Android 5.0.1  Lollipop while among other has stayed in Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

So here is the rundown of each particular Samsung Galaxy S4 models that has received the aforementioned security patched update. You may also check your device if its already has the following OS update by simply going to Settings > About device.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 5.0.1 Update Roundup from 8/01/2015 – 8/31/2015

Now let’s begin with the United States Samsung Galaxy S4 variants.

1. AT&T Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337) got an update to build version I337UCUGOC4. The update is base in Android 5.0.1 and it’s not the first 5.0.1 update but the second one next the previously released I337UCUGOC4.

3. Verizon Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545) received an update to build version I545VRUGOF1. The latter is the second Lollipop update next to the previously rolled out build I545VRUGOC1.

5. T-Mobile Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919) is another story among other Galaxy S4 variants in the United States, as the device though eventually got an update, but it still remained in Android 4.4.4 base. The update came around as build version M919UVUFOH3, dated as of August 24 the most latest build among the rest but its basically and Android 4.4.4 KitKat and not the awaited Android 5.0.1 update.

8. International Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) hasn’t received any numerous update for the month of August. The last was build I9505XXUHOF2 in Europe for the branded Galaxy S4, while in New Zealand have also received the build I9505XXUHOE4. The unbranded Samsung Galaxy S4 has received an update to build I9505XXUHOE3 in Europe alone way back in June.

10. Samsung Galaxy S4 Value Edition (GT-I9515) also haven’t received any numerous update. The recent one is the build version I9515XXU1BOG3 to which rolled out in the United Arab Emirates. Whilst, the last released we have seen in Europe was the build version I9515XXU1BOE3.

So there you have it. If ever your Galaxy S4 hasn’t received those update you may still check the update via over the air (OTA or by using Kies. Just keep in mind that your Galaxy S4 should not have been rooted so you’ll going to get the update without any hiccups. A rooted device will no longer receive a software update anymore unless otherwise the phone should run on official firmware first.
