Root Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE N8020 N8020XXBMA2 to MA7 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update

These are the available root method that works for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE version with specific model (GT-N8020) that already receives or upgraded to official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Updates such as with build numbers version N8020XXBMA2, N8020XXBMA3, N8020XXBMA4, N8020XXBMA6 and N8020XXBMA7 or any previous releases. I had put together the two rooting techniques for the Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE N8020, from here you can choose between the two. The following rooting process includes using SuperSU with CWM recovery (touch/non-touch) and or using CF-AUTO Root. So, just follow each steps of which method you are about to apply onto your Galaxy Note 10.1 N8020.

This root method works only for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE GT-N8020 with the following official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware build versions below:

You can check your device firmware details via Settings>> About device>> Software Info. If it’ll match one of the following builds below then your safe to root your Galaxy Note 10.1 N8020.

  • N8020XXBMA3
  • N8020XXBMA2

Method 1: Root Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE N8020 using CF-AUTO Root

Using CF-AUTO Root on your Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is too easy for beginners, this rooting process does not requires custom recovery to install and it usually retain the stock recovery once installed. That means your device runs closer to factory stock and can receive future firmware updates.
Download the following files:
CF-Root for Galaxy Note 10.1  N8020 download
Grab odin flasher tool Download
Install USB driver Download

  • Make sure the battery is fully charge.
  • Make a back-up copy of all important files stored from the device such as contacts, messages, photos videos etc. just to be safe.
  • Enable USB debugging mode of your Galaxy Note 10.1 Go to Settings>Application>Development>Turn On USB debugging mode.

1) Unzip or extract the downloaded ( Then you will get the (CF-Auto-Root-p4notelte-p4noteltexx-gtn8020.tar.md5) which is now an Odin flashable file.
2) Run Odin Odin3 v3.07.exe or v1.85.exe in your computer

3) In Odin options, make sure the “Re-Partition is unchecked. Leave Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are checked.

4) Reboot the Galaxy Note 10.1 into download. To enter Download Mode – Turn it OFF then just “press and Hold the Volume Down button and Power button”. Simply press volume up to continue, once the warning screen appears.

5) Connect your Galaxy Note 10.1 to the computer via USB cable. You should see that Odin will highlight the ID:COM bar and it says “Added!!”. If  Odin doesn’t respond while plugging-in the device, just check for possible issues like re-installing the USB driver and or checking the USB cable.

6) Click the PDA Button,then browse and select the (CF-Auto-Root-p4notelte-p4noteltexx-gtn8020.tar.md5) file to load it.

7) Simply Hit the START button to begin the root process.

8)  Wait until it finishes and or until a word “PASS!” displays in Odin and then let the device completely reboots.

9) Then unplugged the phone from the computer.

Method 2: Root Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE N8020 using CWM Recovery and SuperSU

This method requires a custom recovery such as CWM Recovery, once the CWM recovery installed you can then manually flash the SuperSU root files  unto it.  The CWM recovery functions is useful on most cases like making a back-up from your device stuffs, installing ROMs etc.

Download following needed files:
CWM Recovery Download (from XDA-developers)
SuperSU 1.04 download

1) Copy the on your device SD card.

2) Flash the CWM recovery via Odin, use the same process as above installation of the CF-Auto Root in Odin.

3) After the CWM recovery has installed, reboot the device onto recovery options.

4) Press and hold Power and Volume Up Button. It will then turns off and reboot,

5) Once the Galaxy Note 10.1 screen logo appears, release the On/Off Button and hold Volume Up,

6) Scroll down to “install zip from sd-card” option,

7) Choose zip from sd-card and navigate to the folder where you placed the,

8) Select “YES” to install,
9) Select “Go back”” and Reboot system,

Once finishes, you should then see that your device is rooted with SuperSU.

How to Reset Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE N8020 Binary Flash counter

Rooting your Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 ignites the binary flash counter to custom, you may only reset it using the triangle away apps. Grab Triangle Away, just follow the steps from apps menu once installed.
