There’s a new firmware update recently hitting Samsung Galaxy S3 to build numbers I9300XXEMG4 Android 4.1.2 version. Those who wants to get their Galaxy S3 Samsung phones rooted, you can still use CF-Auto Root on this EMG4 update. This update has made a little bit confusion from Android forums, since a certain report that this update comes with new Modem. And those whom might install any custom ROM which still based from older firmware versions will result to IMEI lost. But anyway, for those who only needs root only you can use the rooting guide below.
In addition, installing Chainfire Root on your Samsung Galaxy S3 can still receives official update from Kies and via OTA (Over the Air). So there is nothing to worry about getting any future updates.
Warning! This root method only works if your Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 that already receives the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update. Just always remember that rooting will void the warranty of your device.

How to Root Galaxy S3 I9300XXEMG4 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update
- Make sure that your phone is fully charge.
- Back up all important files stored from the phone’s memory such as contacts, messages, pics, videos and etc.
- Use Windows based computer or laptop, Odin will not work on MAC and LINUX.
Download Chainfire’s CF-Auto Root for Samsung GT-I9300 Galaxy S3 – CF-ROOT (consider a donation to Chainfire for continued development)
Step 1. Extract the downloaded CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.zip so that you’ll get the CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.tar.md5 Odin flashable file. You can use Winzip, 7zip or any extracting tool you have in your computer.
Step 2. Run Odin3_v3.07.exe in your computer
– Make sure NOT TO CHECK this option “Re-Partition”. Leave others checked.
Step 3. Click on the PDA button the browse and select the CF-Auto Root tar file.
PDA button: “CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.tar.md5″
Step 4. Set your phone in download mode (Turn off phone, then hold Volume Down+Home+Power button simultaneously) Then it ask you to press a Volume Up button to continue.
Step 5. Connect the phone to your computer via USB cable. You will then see an ID:COM number which is being highlighted in color blue and a word “Added!” in Odin, it indicates that your device is recognized with Odin. If you can’t see such indications, make sure to re-install the driver correctly and check your USB cable and your computer’s USB port for possible issues.
Step 6. Hit the “START” button to begin installing root on your Galaxy s3.
Step 7. Wait until it finishes flashing, you can see a word “PASS” once it’s successfully completes.
This process will only takes around 30 seconds to complete or until the phone completely reboots.
Done! remove the phone from computer connection.
NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode and root your device. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install root and such, make sure that in Odin “Auto Reboot” is not checked. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This willstart the install process.
Fixing possible errors while installing root
Okay, I followed the instruction carefully above but this is what on Odin says:

The flashing will take just around less than a minute or more.
If the above issues occurs,. Disconnect the phone from the USB cable, this time remove the phone’s battery after a few seconds and replace it back. Then just repeat the whole process again.
How to Unroot my Samsung Galaxy S3
You can easily unroot it anytime you may want to. Just flash or install back the official Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 stock firmware such as the I9300XXEMG4 or any later updates.
