AT&T’s Galaxy S4 I337UCUAMDL OTA Update Root Exploit Still Works

AT&T’s has released another early OTA update on recently launched flagship Samsung Galaxy S4, this update is still based on Android 4.2.2 with build numbers I337UCUAMDL and adds-up minor improvements from the shipped firmware I337UCUAMDB. It turns out that this update brings Touch screen sensitivity improvement, Enhanced Multi window experience and New S-Health version, according to AT&T’s official changelog. Those who has a rooted  devices and might afraid if this update do have some kernel patches that prevents unauthorized root access, you folks can now  take a deep breath because this update can be rooted and already confirmed by our folks at XDA-developer.

AT&T jelly bean OTA update

So: I have been reading of this OTA Update and got the notification on the phone. As I was at work I decided to wait till tonight to block it then wait until further information developed.

Lo and behold: I hear my phone reboot in my pocket and when I looked at it the update was in progress. I was a bit pissed.

Is this expected behaviour? Force the phone to restart and do the update? I am not so sure that I like that idea.

In any case: Root was gone… although SuperSU was still there. The custom icon returned.

When I got home I uninstalled SuperSu, rebooted, and then re-ran the ROOT and Remove Custom Icon Process: all is back as it was.

Let’s hope that the bootloader is not further secured.

Thanks for listening…

So anyone who owns  the AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S 4 rooted nor not even touched their their devices so far, should perform this update. This update has started rolling beginning May 7, via OTA (over the air).

Just let us know if you notice any other changes with this update!
