AT&T has rolled out a OTA update on Galaxy Note 2 SGH-I317 that will bump the firmware build version to I317UCUCNJ1 -KOT49H.I317UCUCNJ1. The I317UCUCNJ1 is still based in Android 4.4.2 and are about to replace the previous 4.4.2 I317UCUCNE5 and will bring an Android OS Enhancements, according to AT&T’s official annoucement. Looking at the given change-log it is so broad but might there are something added inside it. Noting that the 4.34 and 4.4.2 updates has a secured bootloader with KNOX, so there might be some sort of another security patches going on this OTA update.

This update is only available via over the air OTA update and cannot be seen via Samsung Kies, as it will just tells you that your device firmware is up to date and there is no firmware available. So, all you need is simply tap on Settings>>About Device>>Check for Update, then take the update from there. Just make sure your device battery is fully re-charge, the 4.4.2 KitKat update is a large file with 93.2MB in size and may take an hour to download and install. If you did not see an update yet, just be patient, updates usually rolling in stages or a first come first serve basis.
Those with Rooted 4.4.2 I317UCUCNE5 Beware!
As the simple rules implemented on OTA updates, the phone must not have root and still running the exact official 4.4.2 firmware. Those who have had root, then you may not receive the update, but instead you may wait if there is someone can sideload and grab the OTA update zip file from where you can manually return back to stock and flash the 4.4.2 I317UCUCNJ1 update firmware file via stock recovery. The OTA update might break your bootloader once took the update as again the update will check the consistency of your device software build version and the system status. Once it forces to install the OTA update, it may result into unwanted soft-bricks such as bootloop (the phone keep on restarting) and just stuck at welcome screen logo. So better be careful taking OTA update and check everything if you have had a modified AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2 I317. If you have just messed-up your phone while taking the OTA update then you might need to have a fix for it.
