You can now root the Galaxy S4 Active I537 running on the latest Android 4.3 OTA update I537UCUBML2. The 4.3 OTA update I537UCUBML2 has been out on January and from then gaining superuser or root access are not yet to be found. But until recently our fellow member from (Sunderwear@XDA) figured it out, so anyone who got the Galaxy S4 Active I537 can now finally acquires root.
The root procedures can be found at XDA’s original-thread – forum.xda-developers.com, below are just a simple guide I preapred for those who might be looking for some step-by-step instructions.
Here’s the Guide to Root the Galaxy S4 Active I537 runs with 4.3 I537UCUBML2:
Disclaimer: We shall not held responsible if anything happens to your device. Rooting will void the warranty of your phone, please be aware with that.
Download the two files “pwnedkernel.tar.md5″ and the “originalkernel.tar.md5″, these are the pawned and stock kernel of the 4.3 ML2. Grab it at XDA’s original-thread from above link.
You also need Odin3_v3.09 and the USB driver for this, you can grab these files from here (scroll down at the bottom of the page). If you already installed Kies in your computer, then there is no need to install the USB driver. Assuming that you already have the USB driver properly installed then you can simply run Odin in your computer.
Now, reboot your Galaxy S4 Active I317 into download mode by holding volume down + home + power and then the volume up to continue. Once the phone is in download mode simply connect it to your computer using the supplied USB data cable. Wait until Odin recognizes the phone, you can easily figure it out for it shows you the COM:ID number, which is basically the location of the USB port where the phone is being connected from your computer.
Now click Odin’s AP button then load the first file which is the “pwnedkernel.tar.md5″. Just make sure that the “Re-Partition” stays unchecked.
Now once loaded, hit the “START” button, it only takes a while to flash then wait until the phone reboots.
Download and unzip the download safe root script file.
Once downloaded the saferoot file, unzip it in single file folder. You will then see three files named as -”install.bat”, ”install.sh” and a folder called “tools” or “files”
Turn-ON USB debugging mode on developer options.
To do this, head-over to your phone Menu>>Settings>>About Phone. Once on About Phone info, scroll down and find the text that says “Build number”. Then tap the Build Number for about seven times, a pop-up message will then prompt you saying ‘You are 4 steps away from being a developer’ until the pop up message says ‘You are now a developer’.
Connect your phone to your computer.
Once the phone was already set into USB debugging mode and installed the USB driver simply plug in the USB cable. If a pop-up message appears that says “Allow USB Debugging” just tap on the “Always allow from this computer” to check it, then tap OK.
Install the SafeRoot file on top of 4.3 I537UCUBML2
Now head-over to the folder where you extracted the ‘Saferoot’ file then simply run root by clicking the “install.bat”. It will then root your phone. Then wait until the phone reboots. That’s it, from there your phone must be rooted, you may then check and confirmed it if the root successfully installed.
Install the 4.3 I537UCUBML2 Stock Kernel
You need to flash the original 4.3 ML2 kernel, because the first kernel file was from the old kernel and this one is the original kernel file. Without this some stuff like the WiFi and GPS will not work, so you need to flash the stock kernel to get rid of such issues. Just simply head-back to Odin then flash this file “originalkernel.tar.md5″ under Odin’s AP button.
So that’s it. You may now have your Galaxy S4 Active I537 running on a rooted 4.3 I537UCUBML2.
So how’s this root method, did it worked on your phone or note? Just drop us some comments.
