When AT&T released the 4.2.2 update on Samsung Galaxy S4 software build I337UCUAMF3, everyone in Android community was trying to figured out how to root it, since it brings with an unlockable bootloader. Though, there’s already a working method that keeps root while updating to the new 4.2.2, but this is only a temporary solution. But for those who already receive the OTA MF3 and wipes out root, the said method may not tend work.
But hopefully, the undying effort from the elites of XDA-developers, that has been always there to serve and rescue. Another XDA-developers that will be soon marked as ‘highly recognize contributor’, he hid with the username of [ jortex], and from the adaptation of other devoted developers root exploit, he has come up with the new root method that truly works on the 4.2.2 UCUAMF3 build.
The rooting process only includes some basic knowledge in computer such as formatting the micro SD card and then a download of the needed files such as the root file, Android Terminal Emulator, SuperSU and lastly run some simple command script of codes. Although, this root method will work with the I337UCUAMF3 4.2.2 OTA update, but you must consider to understand that you cannot install any custom recovery such as CWM and/or TWRP, or to use with custom ROM have been discovered yet. And also, there is no Odin flashable I337UCUAMF3 full stock firmware available, and that means rolling back to stock official firmware is quite impossible at this moment.
So again, if you need to root your AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337) that now runs with the latest OTA update 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software build I337UCUAMF3, just head-over at XDA original thread. Just don’t forget to hit [jortex] thank’s button if this root method is useful and helps you a lot.
